Introvert Who Travels

Whether it's a brief and quick moment of minutes or a whole afternoon talk,

I had a pleasure to share time with these people and take a memento to thank them for  the time or the privilege to hear some of their stories.

<< Komang Asrawiguna, a postcard seller at Tegalalang Ricefield, Gianyar - Bali. 2016.

I met him on a visit. He actually approached me, offered the postcard, and asked what would I do with the photos I've taken. We shared some times and he said that selling postcard is a fun thing to do after school. He can play and earn some money at the same time. "I want to be a cook when I grow up."

Before waving goodbye, I had no reason not to buy the postcard.

<< Chef Joachim Kreisel, or Chef Joey. Photographed at Big Fish Bar & Grill, The Stones Hotel Legian Bali, 2019.

I was drawn by the words on his apron when he was busy checking things at the open kitchen.

I approached him, asked for a quick portrait. I was glad that he was happy to do some poses to create this a kind of environmental portrait. The wording seems to be a proud acclamation of his 34 years of culinary expertise.

<< Indian Chef Khrisna Nand at Queen Tandoor Indian Restaurant in Kupu-Kupu Barong Villas, Ubud - Bali. 2019.

"Please include the restaurant's name in the picture," he requested as I was about to photograph him doing the food preparations.

"Name any food from North India, I can cook it for you," he smiled and continued the preps for that day after I showed him the photograph I took.
